Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 14 kidnapped victims in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims — six males and eight females — were rescued after troops engaged suspected terrorists operating near Madaci Forest.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the troops responded swiftly to reports of terrorist activity in the area.
“Upon making contact with the insurgents, the troops engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to abandon their captives and retreat into the surrounding bushes,” Danja said.
He said the troops subsequently conducted a thorough search of the forest and recovered the 14 victims.
According to him, the victims had been abducted from different locations in Dandume, Bakori and Funtua local government areas of Katsina State.
Danja said the rescued victims were handed over to the relevant local authorities to facilitate their reunion with their families.
The Theatre Command said it would continue to sustain pressure on criminal elements operating across the region.
It also urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and actionable information that could help prevent attacks and facilitate the rescue of kidnapped persons.
