FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said his political mission ahead of the 2027 general election is to keep opposition leaders, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, under pressure.

Wike made the remarks on Friday in Abuja while inspecting ongoing projects in the Federal Capital Territory, insisting that there is currently no formidable opposition party in Nigeria.

Reacting to Osun State Governor-elect Ademola Adeleke’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu and himself, Wike described the development as part of an emerging “Rainbow Coalition” in support of the President ahead of the 2027 election.

“When you say opposition, I have told you, I don’t know what you call opposition. I say there is no opposition now,” Wike said.

According to him, Adeleke remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party but contested the Osun governorship election on another platform because of internal disagreements within the party.

Wike said Adeleke’s recent engagement with Tinubu was an indication of growing support for the President.

“In the next few weeks, watch what is going to happen. You will see the Rainbow Coalition in this country supporting Mr President,” he said.

The minister also described the 2027 general election as one that would be easy for the ruling political camp.

“I told you that the 2027 election would be the easiest election,” he said.

Asked whether he was concerned about how opposition leaders such as Atiku and Obi viewed his recent engagements with Adeleke, Wike said he was not bothered by their reactions.

“I don’t care; whatever they feel is not my business. I don’t want them to feel well. It is not my wish that they should feel well,” he said.

Wike added that he intended to intensify the political pressure on the opposition by exploiting its internal divisions.

“My business is to make them not feel well all day, because they will be having high blood pressure. I guess that is my job, to make them have high blood pressure,” he said.

He added, “I will add more crises for them. So, that’s my position.”
