Barcelona winger Raphinha is officially Brazil’s new No. 10 as the Seleção begin a new era following Neymar’s retirement from international football.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed Raphinha’s new shirt number ahead of Brazil’s friendly against Australia in Townsville.
The 29-year-old will also wear the iconic number when Brazil face India in their upcoming international fixtures.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano announced the change on X, writing: “OFFICIAL: Raphinha, Brazil’s new number 10 after Neymar Jr’s international retirement.”
Raphinha has previously worn the No. 10 shirt when Neymar was unavailable, including during Brazil’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
The shirt now permanently passes to Raphinha following Neymar’s decision to end his international career.
Endrick takes the No. 9 shirt previously worn by Matheus Cunha, while Estêvão receives No. 11 and Vinícius Júnior keeps No. 7.
Goalkeeper Hugo Souza has been assigned the No. 1 shirt.
Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 80 goals in 130 appearances, wore the No. 10 shirt during four World Cup tournaments.
The 34-year-old confirmed his international retirement two months ago, saying his time with the national team had come to an end.
The No. 10 shirt holds a special place in Brazilian football history, having been worn by legends including Pelé, Zico, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaká.
Raphinha now joins that list as Brazil begin a new cycle under head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
His first match as Brazil’s official No. 10 comes against Australia in Townsville.
