The Lagos Sate Police Command has foiled a suspected human trafficking operation in Badagry, Lagos State, and rescued three young girls allegedly being trafficked.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement posted on his X account.

He said police officers on routine patrol intercepted the motorcycle along Owode Apa Road in Badagry.

“Interrogation revealed the girls were victims of human trafficking. They were rescued and debriefed, while efforts are ongoing to track down the suspected traffickers,” he said.

Iniedu added that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, was investigating the case.

In a separate operation in Abuja, police arrested six suspects over alleged armed robbery, extortion and homicide.

The suspects, including Abubakar Safiyanu, were arrested during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Kado Bimko by police operatives working with the Civilian Joint Task Force.

According to Iniedu, officers recovered 11 stolen mobile phones, a laptop, dangerous weapons and intoxicating substances during the operation.

He said the principal suspect was also linked to robbery and murder, adding that the Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja was investigating the case.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a suspected gunrunner, identified as 52-year-old Kingsley Eghaghe, in Benin City, Edo State.

The arrest followed an intelligence report and the interception of a phone conversation allegedly linked to illegal arms dealings.

Iniedu said the suspect had been taken into custody for investigation, while efforts were ongoing to recover the suspected arms and ammunition.
