Ikpeazu gave the charge while attending the 16th anniversary celebration of Ndi Abia in Diaspora, Valencia Chapter, as Special Guest of Honour.

According to a statement by the Embassy of Nigeria in Madrid, the ambassador urged members of the association to demonstrate hard work, integrity, unity and mutual support while engaging positively with Spanish society.
He said their behaviour and contributions in Spain directly influence how Nigerians and Abians are perceived abroad.
The former Abia State governor described Abians as enterprising people, particularly in tailoring and shoemaking, urging them to remain proud of their Igbo heritage and cultural identity.
He also described Nigerians in the diaspora as valuable national assets who serve as cultural ambassadors, promote investment and strengthen relationships between Nigeria and their host countries.
Ikpeazu encouraged the Valencia chapter to sustain unity among members, support one another and explore opportunities that could contribute to development in Abia State.

The ambassador, who assumed office about two months ago after presenting his Letters of Credence to Spain’s King Felipe VI, congratulated the association on its 16-year milestone.
He assured members of the embassy’s continued support, particularly in addressing issues affecting Nigerians living in Spain.
He said the embassy was ready to work with the Nigerian community to promote their welfare and strengthen relations between both countries.

Earlier, the Chairman of Ndi Abia in Diaspora, Valencia Chapter, Endy Okoroafor, expressed gratitude to members and founding leaders for sustaining the association over the years.
Describing the anniversary as a special occasion, Okoroafor praised the resilience and unity that had kept the organisation together since its establishment.

He also announced that the association, formerly known as Abia State Congress in Diaspora, had secured full registration after facing difficulties under previous administrations.
Okoroafor reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the Igbo principle of Onye Aghala Nwanne Ya, meaning “let no one leave their brother behind”.
He said Abians remained united regardless of their local government areas, adding that the association would continue to promote their shared identity and support members.
The anniversary celebration featured cultural performances, reflections on the association’s history, the unveiling of an almanac, award presentations and networking among Abia indigenes in Valencia.
