The African Youth Resource Centre (AYRC) says youths must conquer the “Get rich quick Mindset in the Society and restrategize to fight the Root Causes of Insecurity in Nigeria.
The Director General of the Center, Comrade Ben Duntoye stated this during an event to mark this year’s International Youth Day in Abuja, with the sub theme: “Positive Youth Engagement towards Peaceful General Elections in Nigeria”.
He stressed that Nigeria Youths must rise up and make meaningful contribution to the forthcoming General Elections especially in ensuring peaceful and successful Elections.
Comrade Duntoye said that the organization had been addressing issues such as Violent Extremism, Access to Education, Youth Participation and Unemployment.
He pointed out the need for Nigerians to be mindful of the virtues of hard work Perseverance, Integrity and Godliness.
In a message, the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare said the Ministry in collaboration with relevant stakeholders was committed to promoting an enabling environment for youth and facilitating their participation in decision making processes.
He stressed that the Ministry was also reinforcing capacities of youth-led organizations and expanding opportunities for young people to aspire to leadership positions.
The theme for this year’s Celebration is “Intergenerational Society: Creating a World for All Ages” .
