The National Development Alliance has described retired General Ibrahim Babangida as an astute promoter and defender of national Unity.
The President of the Group, Comrade Almustapha Asuku gave the indication in a congratulatory message to General Babangida on his 81st birthday.
While praying that the Almighty Allah continue to protect him, Comrade Asuku advised youths to shun any issue that encourage division but always promote Unity and peace.

The leadership of National Development Alliance wishes to use this medium to call on all Nigeria youth to promote shuns any form of issues that divide us as a people and promote our Unity in diversity. We must be the generation that will choose hope over fear and unity over division.
By choosing to discuss issues rather than the sentiments that divide us, We will become a better nation if we focus more on the challenges we face and offer practical solutions on how we intend to tackle them than on the trivial issues that divide us.
We must unite to promote the core principle of peaceful co-existence amongst Nigerian. Young people in Nigeria to take lead in the campaign in promoting our corporate entity as a nation taking advantage of our numerical strength and vibrancy to herald a paradigm shift from the traditional norms of the social exclusion of the youth to an action and result oriented inclusion of the youth as active participants in the mainstream of nation building and national development.
The current situations in this country of ours calls for the concerns of all not unwarranted agitations, we must be ready to assist government in whatever ways to provide information that would be helpful to continue to promote an atmosphere of peace and security. Government alone cannot do it; it is a responsibility that the present challenge has thrust on us as citizen of this great nation to promote peace and development.
