JAMB Detects About One million Illegally Admitted Students In Institutions Of Higher Learning

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has expressed concern over the declining quality of graduates presented for national service who cannot defend educational qualifications.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Muhammad Fadah gave the indication during the 2022 Pre-mobilization workshop for Batch C Corps members in Abuja.

The NYSC Pre-mobilization workshop, which heralds the commencement of the national service year, serve as a platform for relevant stakeholders to strategize towards a successful mobilization process.

The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Muhammad Fadah said during the 2022 Batch B Streams one and two orientation programmes, it was discovered that foreign-based prospective corps members could not defend their qualifications.

The Professor Ishaq Oloyede said through the help of the Central Admission Processing System, CAPs, close to one million people were identified to have been illegally admitted into institutions of higher learnings.

Professor Oloyede explained that after admitting to the crime, the Minister of Education gave amnesty to the defaulters.

He said that over nine hundred thousand persons were admitted into various institutions of higher learning in the Country.

Professor Oloyede advised corps producing institutions to follow lay down rules and avoid mobilizing unqualified students for national service.

He said, close to one million persons were confirmed to have been illegally admitted from 2017 and 2021.

The Director Corps Mobilization in the NYSC, Mrs. Victoria Ango said the Directorate had observed gaps in uploading details of prospective corps members and faking of academic credentials.

The theme of the event is: ” Stemming Fraudulent Enlistment In The Mobilization Process: Time For Drastic Action To Arrest The Menace”.
