Hunger Protest: 18 Suspects Arrested Over Vandalism In Yobe

The Police Command in Yobe has announced the arrest of 18 suspects in connection with Thursday’s violent protest and vandalism in Nguru, Potiskum, and Gashua towns. The command’s spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Damaturu. He stated that the suspects, masquerading as peaceful protesters, had set fire to public buildings and stolen food items and empowerment equipment. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is mobilising Abuja youths and other stakeholders against joining the planned August 1 to 10 nationwide protests over hunger and hardship. Ahead of the proposed nationwide protest, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has deployed 4,200 policemen across the nooks and crannies of the nation’s capital.
