We have confirmed from verified sources that the governor has been in touch with top INEC officials, forcing them to allocate fake figures in his favor.
He said the situation was difficult for security agents to contain hence he and his team had to come to the area.
He assured that the police and other security agencies were prepared and ready to protect voters and INEC officials during and after the election.
The appellate court had on the 3rd of this month, granted leave to Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party to inspect election materials used by INEC to conduct the Feb. 25 presidential election.
INEC presented the certificates to the winners of the just concluded senatorial elections held on February 25 at the National Collation Centre, also referred to as the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The electoral body said the declaration made by the returning officer was done under duress.
The intelligence reports available to him indicated that similar attacks were being planned for Rano Local Government Area, which is the collation centre
The attackers left three of the INEC officials with machete cuts and other injuries. Three of the officials are receiving treatment at a hospital in the area.
“We are going to experience an election without vote buying. There will be no money to buy votes. I assure you that the elections will be very free and fair.
“The commission has done its best to boost voters’ confidence in the electoral process. The commission converted voting points and voting point settlements into full-fledged polling units and took some closer to the voters.
