The Emir of Kano, Malam Mohammad Sanusi II, has lauded Governor Abba Yusuf for prioritizing key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and security in the state.
During a traditional Sallah homage at the Government House, the Emir commended the Governor’s efforts, particularly in education and agriculture, highlighting the provision of subsidized modern farming implements to boost food production.
Sanusi also acknowledged the Governor’s generosity in gifting cars to individuals and appealed for a similar initiative to empower Local Government chairmen. He stressed that equipping them adequately would enhance governance at the grassroots level and aid in poverty alleviation.
In response, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Emirate Council for fostering peace and unity in the state. He praised the Emir for his continuous advocacy against social vices and described him as a respected scholar dedicated to Islamic teachings.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development, the Governor pledged to transform Kano into a modern megacity with well-maintained roads. He also urged Local Government chairmen to improve their performance, warning that those failing to meet expectations must “step up.”
