The ECOWAS Resident Representative in Guinea-Bissau, Ambassador Ngozi Ukaeje, has paid her first official visit to the Ghanaian (GHANCOY 4) and Nigerian (NIGCOY 4) contingents of the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB).

The visit, which took place on August 21, 2025, comes after the formal handover in July between the outgoing GHANCOY 3 and NIGCOY 3 contingents and their successors.

Ambassador Ukaeje inspected the guard of honour, toured camp facilities, and held discussions with the troops. He commended their commitment to service and urged them to remain exemplary in carrying out their duties.

With Guinea-Bissau preparing for legislative and presidential elections, the envoy stressed the importance of maintaining the highest level of professionalism, noting that peace and stability in the country largely depend on the discipline and conduct of peacekeepers.
