President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to overcoming Nigeria’s security challenges, saying peace has returned to many formerly troubled regions.

In a nationwide broadcast on Wednesday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Tinubu said security forces have made significant gains in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes across the country.

“Peace has returned to hundreds of our liberated communities in the North-West and North-East, and thousands of our people have returned safely to their homes,” the President said.

He highlighted the efforts of the armed forces and security agencies, emphasizing their sacrifices and continued successes in restoring safety across Nigeria.

“They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes. We see their victories in their blood and sweat to stamp out Boko Haram terror in the North-East, IPOB/ESN terror in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping,” Tinubu added.

The President also assured citizens that the government is diligently working to improve national security and create a safer environment to boost economic growth.

“We are working diligently to enhance national security, ensuring our economy experiences improved growth and performance,” he stated.

Tinubu praised the gallantry of Nigeria’s security personnel, urging Nigerians to continue supporting and celebrating the courage of the nation’s defenders.

“We must continue to celebrate their gallantry and salute their courage on behalf of a grateful nation,” he said.
