Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem says his Facebook and Instagram accounts have been suspended shortly after he released his new protest single, “Open Letter to Donald Trump.”
In an interview with SaharaReporters, Abdulkareem revealed that he has been unable to access both platforms since the song dropped.
“Facebook just suspended my Facebook and Instagram account because of my new song, Open Letter to Donald Trump,” he said. Attempts to visit the pages show that both accounts are currently unavailable. Meta has not provided any explanation or indicated how long the suspension will last.
Released in November 2025 under Lakreem Entertainment, the song is a hard-hitting commentary on corruption, insecurity, and failed governance in Nigeria.
Although framed as a message to U.S. President Donald Trump, the track primarily targets Nigeria’s ruling class. Abdulkareem accuses political leaders of looting public funds while ordinary citizens endure hardship, describing them as “criminals of all shades and hues.”
The song also spotlights the country’s deteriorating security situation, including rising cases of kidnappings, killings, and terrorism, and calls for global attention to the suffering faced by Nigerians.
“Open Letter to Donald Trump” continues Abdulkareem’s long-standing tradition of releasing politically charged music. It follows earlier hits like “Jaga Jaga,” which criticized corruption and government failures, and “Tell Your Papa,” a protest song banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in April 2025 for what it labeled “objectionable lyrics.”
Despite repeated attempts to silence his work, Abdulkareem remains one of Nigeria’s most outspoken voices in protest music, using his platform to challenge leaders, expose injustice, and amplify public frustration.
