The Federal Government has been called upon to intensify its focus on people-oriented projects to ensure that Nigerians fully experience the dividends of democracy.

This appeal was made by the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Reverend Israel Akanji, during the FCT Baptist Conference in Abuja, themed “Celebrating God Who Answers Prayers.”

Commending President Bola Tinubu for his ongoing reform initiatives, Reverend Akanji stressed the need for collaborative efforts to ensure that government policies translate into tangible benefits for the people.

“On behalf of Nigerians, we appreciate the great work being done by President Tinubu and the measures being implemented. However, more still needs to be done. There should be continuous efforts to ease the challenges faced by citizens,” Reverend Akanji stated.

Also speaking at the event, the President of the FCT Baptist Conference, Reverend Dogara Gwana, highlighted the importance of holiness in attracting divine intervention.

“God receives our prayers and answers them, but the Bible tells us that He is too holy to behold iniquity. We encourage our members to live righteously so that when they pray, they can be assured of God’s response,” Reverend Gwana said.

Similarly, Reverend Tom Takpatore of First Baptist Church Garki, who also serves as the Chairman of the FCT Baptist Conference, urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayer for the nation’s progress.

“Our theme this year reminds us to unite in prayer, seeking divine intervention for our nation. By trusting God and holding onto faith, we believe He will answer our prayers for Nigeria,” he emphasized.

In their separate remarks, the President of the FCT Baptist Conference Women Missionary Union, Pastor Mrs. Ronke Kehinde, and the Men Missionary Union leader, Reverend Kehinde Ogunsanya, reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing members into exemplary citizens who contribute positively to the country.
