The widow of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has died after succumbing to injuries sustained in the same U.S.–Israeli airstrike that killed several members of her family.

Iranian state television confirmed the death of 79-year-old Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh two days after the strike on the leadership compound in Tehran that claimed her husband’s life.

According to state media reports, the airstrike also killed Khamenei’s daughter, grandchild, daughter-in-law and son-in-law, marking one of the deadliest single incidents involving the ruling family.

Footage circulating online showed heavy plumes of smoke rising from the House of Leadership in Tehran following the strike. In several clips, dark clouds could be seen billowing into the sky as vehicles and pedestrians moved through nearby streets. In another video, motorcyclists were filmed heading toward the towering column of smoke in the distance.

Separate footage from a Tehran subway station appeared to show large crowds of women gathered in mourning. The women were heard chanting and rhythmically beating their chests along the train platform.

Bagherzadeh married Khamenei in 1965, and the couple had four sons and two daughters during their decades-long union. Khamenei had led Iran for nearly 40 years prior to his death.
