The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction and brutal killing of a female bank manager in Onitsha, even after collecting a ransom of ₦14 million from her family.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, disclosing that the suspects — Monday Egbe (32) and Kenneth Nnoga (28) — were apprehended on May 28, 2025, following an intensive manhunt that led officers to their hideout in a neighbouring state.
The deceased, whose identity remains undisclosed for security reasons, was found dead along Nnobi Road on January 13, 2025, days after her abduction. Her eyes were reportedly blindfolded, and despite the ransom payment, she was killed by her captors.
Ikenga said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, as the police work to uncover more details about the gang’s operation and track down other members involved.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has reassured the public that the Command remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property and bring perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice,” Ikenga stated.
He noted that the swift breakthrough in the investigation has restored some hope to the victim’s grieving family and to the wider community, highlighting the police’s ongoing commitment to combating violent crime in the state.
