The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
In his message, the minister extended congratulatory wishes to all Muslim faithful both within the country and in the diaspora. He urged the Muslim Ummah to reflect on the significance of the season, especially the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).
“Let us use this period to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in our beloved country,” Tunji-Ojo said.
He also reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to people-focused reforms, aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at restoring Nigeria’s path to development and greatness.
“The ongoing reforms are designed to reposition the country and improve the lives of Nigerians,” he noted.
The Minister concluded by calling on citizens of all faiths to support the administration’s efforts in building a stronger, more united, and progressive Nigeria.
