The Federal Government is to develop a framework to enhance collaboration with stakeholders to render humanitarian services across the country.
The Minister of State Humanitarian Affairs & Poverty Reduction, Dr. Tanko Sununu who stated this in Niger State at the 2026 Sectorial Retreat on the Performance Management System expressed optimism that that it would help boost humanitarian interventions and poverty reduction.
Dr. Sununu maintained that the retreat was to discuss ways to build a strong foundation for the approved National Council on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
He said the Ministry would embrace the three pillars of the new performance culture which include clarity of purpose and urged the participants to contribute meaningfully to the progress of the programme.
“…our new Performance Management System is not an administrative burden; it is a strategic tool. It is designed to create a direct line of sight between the Ministry’s high-level objectives-the 8-Point Agenda of the President and our Ministry’s specific mandate and the daily tasks of every Director, Unit, and staff member.”
The Permanent Secretary, Humanitarian Affairs & Poverty Reduction, Yakubu Kofar Mata said the ministry would engage critical discussions, share knowledge and build capacity for a robust PMS to track progress, measure outcomes and make evidence-based decisions.
Mr. Kofar Mata stressed that the PMS was a means of bringing to life the deliverables and mandate of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the nation at large.
He added that the PMS would be the standard to determine performance of workers and other targets in the civil service.
