The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has responded to a Nigerian youth who suggested that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, should lead a protest over the country’s challenges.

In a statement shared on social media, the church argued that it was unreasonable to expect its 84-year-old leader to spearhead protests on issues that directly affect younger generations.

“You’re not ready if you expect our 84-year-old General Overseer to lead a protest for your own future,” the church stated.

The response comes amid ongoing debates on the role of religious leaders in addressing national issues, including insecurity, governance and economic hardship.

RCCG maintained that Pastor Adeboye has consistently spoken on matters affecting the nation through sermons, public statements and engagements with government officials, while emphasizing that citizens also have a responsibility to contribute to positive change.
