The management of Transcorp Hilton Abuja has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening media relations and strategic collaboration with journalists in the Federal Capital Territory, following a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council.
The delegation, led by Betty Aguiyi-Ironsi, Commercial Director of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, and Ijeoma Osuji, E-Commerce Manager, both trailblazers as the first women in their respective roles at the prestigious hotel, met with the NUJ-FCT leadership to deepen institutional ties and express appreciation for past support.
“We are here to thank the media for their unwavering support and to further strengthen our strategic partnership with the NUJ,” Aguiyi-Ironsi said. “The media plays a critical role in our visibility and growth. We see journalists as partners in progress.”
In her remarks, NUJ-FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, described the visit as timely and symbolic, applauding the female-led Hilton delegation and emphasizing the hotel’s longstanding contributions to the union.
“I want to sincerely appreciate Transcorp Hilton for hosting our 2025 Press Week Public Lecture. The NUJ values this partnership deeply, and we hope to see more collaborations going forward,” Ike said.
She further appealed for the revival of the annual media cocktail event, a long-cherished tradition that brought together reporters and editors to unwind after a year of hard work.
Echoing the sentiments, Ijeoma Osuji thanked the NUJ for the visibility and credibility the media has given the hotel over the years. “Our relevance is rooted in the media’s support, and we cherish this partnership,” she stated.
The visit was attended by members of the NUJ-FCT Executive Council, including Vice Chairman, Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo; Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle; Treasurer, Comrade Sandra Udeike; Financial Secretary, Comrade Henry Daniel Abimiku; Assistant Secretary, Sharon Emephia; and Internal Auditor, Comrade Rosemary Ukoko-Tega.
