Nigeria Congratulates Republic of Guinea on Independence Anniversary, Pledges Stronger Bilateral Ties

The Federal Republic of Nigeria has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Republic of Guinea on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation in West Africa.

In a formal message delivered by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the government expressed warm wishes to Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté, Guinea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Guineans Abroad.

“The Independence Anniversary of Guinea is not only a moment of national pride but also a significant milestone for Africa. It symbolizes the resilience, vision, and determination of the Guinean people in their pursuit of sovereignty and sustainable development,” Tuggar said in the statement.

Nigeria, Guinea Celebrate Decades of Friendship and Cooperation

Nigeria and Guinea share a long-standing history of diplomatic relations, characterized by mutual respect, solidarity, and shared goals in the promotion of peace, security, and economic integration in West Africa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the two countries remain united by their common heritage and values, especially under the frameworks of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU).

“As we mark this important day with the people of Guinea, Nigeria looks forward to deepening cooperation in key sectors including trade, energy, education, governance, and regional security,” the statement added.

Strengthening Nigeria-Guinea Relations for Regional Prosperity

Nigeria praised Guinea’s continued efforts toward peacebuilding, democratic governance, and regional development. The message highlighted optimism about the future of Nigeria-Guinea relations, particularly in driving sustainable growth and stability across the West African sub-region.

Both nations are expected to continue working closely on initiatives that support African integration, good governance, and economic resilience, in line with the AU’s Agenda 2063 and ECOWAS strategic goals.
