The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old woman from the hands of a suspected armed robber and ritualist in Abuja, launching a manhunt for the fleeing suspect.
The incident occurred at a hotel in the Wuse district, where the victim, identified as Promise Eze from Ebonyi State, was found tied to a chair with her mouth sealed with plaster. She was unconscious when police arrived on January 31, 2025, responding to a distress call from hotel staff.
Eze was rushed to Wuse District Hospital, where she regained consciousness. Investigations revealed that she had checked into the hotel the previous day with a man who introduced himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos. However, she later disclosed that they met online, where the suspect used the alias “Michael Prince” and claimed to be an oil company employee from Delta State.
According to the police, the suspect threatened Eze with a dagger before restraining her and stealing her two mobile phones. Before fleeing, he was overheard on a phone call with suspected accomplices, stating he would return to “finish the job.”
The FCT Police Command has since launched a full-scale manhunt for the suspect. Commissioner of Police CP Olatunji Disu urged residents to exercise caution when meeting strangers and report any suspicious activities.
The public is encouraged to contact the police with any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest via emergency lines: 08032003913 or 08107314192.
