The Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja has ordered the remand of Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of Paul and Peter Okoye of the defunct music group P-Square, over allegations of financial misconduct involving $1 million and £34,537.59.
Justice Rahman Oshodi directed that Okoye be held at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the hearing of his bail application, which is set for March 6.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Okoye and his company, Northside Music Ltd, on a four-count charge of alleged financial misappropriation. According to the EFCC, between 2016 and 2023, Okoye allegedly converted $767,544.15—funds paid by Lex Records Ltd for digital distribution and publishing royalties—thereby depriving his brother, Peter Okoye, of his financial entitlement.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges. In response, EFCC prosecutor Mohammed Bashiru requested a trial date and sought the defendant’s remand. However, Okoye’s legal counsel, Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN), submitted a bail application on his behalf.
Justice Oshodi subsequently ordered Okoye’s remand and set March 6 for the bail hearing.
In a separate case before the Federal High Court in Lagos, Okoye is also facing money laundering allegations involving N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. On March 3, the court granted him bail set at N100 million with two sureties in like sum, adjourning the case until April 14 for trial commencement.
