The Kwara State Police Command has successfully rescued an abducted victim, arrested key suspects, and recovered an AK-47 rifle following a coordinated security operation.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the command received intelligence on March 1, 2025, regarding the abduction of Sule Saidu Ahuro at a Fulani camp by five armed men.
Acting swiftly, a joint security team—comprising police detectives, hunters, and vigilantes—launched a rescue mission. The operatives intercepted the gang along the Babanla/Oreke axis, where a gun battle ensued. One kidnapper was neutralized, two were arrested, while the remaining two escaped with gunshot wounds. An AK-47 rifle and criminal charms were also recovered.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi further disclosed that the injured suspects, who were later apprehended, succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital. Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing criminals.
