As the Nigeria National League Super 8 Promotion Play-Offs matches for the 2024/2025 season commence on Saturday, 5th July, at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium in Asaba and the Jay-Jay Okocha Stadium in Ogwashi-Ukwu, NNL Board Chairman, George Aluo says all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a successful tournament.
Aluo who spoke at the draw for match fixtures ceremony at the VIP hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, gave an assurance of fair officiating.
Aluo congratulated the clubs that qualified for the Super 8 League from Conferences A, B, C, and D explaining that none of the four promoted teams from the previous season returned to the NNL, with commendation to Ikorodu FC for their impressive performance.
The NNL Board Chairman lauded the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation for demonstrating confidence in the Board as well as the Delta State Government for accepting to host the Super 8 League flagship competition.
He stated that the league had been repositioned under his leadership, promising improved performance during his second tenure, adding that Super Eight Play-Offs marked his first major assignment in this his administration.
In an address, Chairman of Delta State Football Association, Godwin Adedo, expressed delight in hosting the NNL Super 8 League, and thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as well as the Delta State Sports Commission for their significant support and investment in sports development.
The ceremony was attended by all board members of NNL, officiating team, representatives of NFF, representatives of the eight clubs competing in the Super 8 League :Barau FC, Yobe Desert Stars FC, Wikki Tourists FC, Doma United FC, Crown FC , Kun Khalifat FC, Osun United FC and Warri Wolves FC.
The week-long competition will culminate next Saturday with the final match to determine the Super 8 League champions for the season.
