President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted a fresh list of 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the request during Thursday’s plenary session.

The new list includes 34 career ambassadors and high commissioners and 31 non-career nominees.

Notable career diplomats on the list are Sulu-Gambari Olatunde Ahmed from Kwara State and Segun Ige from Edo State.

Prominent non-career nominees include Senator Folasade Grace Bent (Adamawa), Senator Solomon Ita Enang (Akwa Ibom), and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo).

Also listed as non-career ambassadors are Chioma Ohakim, former First Lady of Imo State, and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former Minister of Interior and ex-Chief of Army Staff, both of whom were absent from the earlier batch released by the Presidency.

This new submission comes only days after Tinubu forwarded an initial set of three nominees, Kayode Are (Ogun), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Ayodele Oke (Oyo), who have already been screened by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

All 65 nominees have now been referred to the Foreign Affairs Committee, which has been instructed to conclude the screening within one week.
