The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Headquarters Chapel, has celebrated the successful and meritorious retirement of Husseina Akila, the immediate past Director of News of the Corporation.
In a statement, the Chapel described Akila’s career at the FRCN as a model of professionalism, dedication, and ethical journalism.
The statement, jointly signed by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Tersoo Zamber, and the Acting Secretary, Hussein Hassan, commended Akila’s years of service, noting that her contributions significantly strengthened the News Directorate and the overall development of the Corporation.
“Her career at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria stands as a shining example of professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to ethical journalism and public service,” the statement said.
The NUJ FRCN Chapel described Akila as a disciplined administrator, a seasoned journalist, and a mentor whose leadership style was marked by integrity, fairness, and a passion for nurturing young professionals within the newsroom.
“Her leadership was characterised by integrity, fairness, and a deep commitment to developing talent, qualities that earned her the respect of colleagues and subordinates alike,” the statement added.
The Chapel also acknowledged her consistent support for journalists and her contributions to the advancement of journalism within Nigeria’s public broadcasting space.
As she transitions into retirement, the NUJ FRCN Chapel offered prayers for good health, peace, fulfilment, and continued opportunities for service to society.
“We celebrate her selfless service to the Corporation and the nation and wish her a rewarding and joyful retirement,”
the union stated.
