The Leadership of the House of Representatives has met with the Minister of Transport, Mr Romiti Ameachi and Service Chiefs behind closed doors to discuss the increasing spate of insecurity in the country.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila said the meeting was a legislative intervention, aimed at finding lasting solution to insecurity.

Mr Gbajabiamila however, stated that the matters discussed are not for public consumption.

“We had an extensive deliberation, the issues we discussed there unfortunately defence matters, they are not for public consumption.

“But I can assure you, it was a lot of collaboration, a lot of ideas came together in terms of how security agents can work together in one voice, as opposed to different voices.

He revealed that they discussed about the all-important issue of whether or not there are elements within the military—the issue of mole like some people have stated.

According to the speaker, issues of training and retraining as well as allowances were also discussed

The Service Chiefs, however, all declined speaking to newsmen after the meeting.
