Kidnapped Anambra Lawmaker Justice Azuka Found Dead On 2nd Niger Bridge

The decomposing remains of Anambra State House of Assembly member, Justice Azuka, have been discovered on the 2nd Niger Bridge, weeks after his abduction.

A combined team of security operatives made the grim discovery after apprehending the suspected kidnappers in a late-night operation on Wednesday. The suspects later led authorities to the location where they had dumped the lawmaker’s body.

Azuka, who represented Onitsha North Constituency 1, was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunabankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha. His disappearance had sparked widespread concern and an intensive investigation by security forces.

While details surrounding the murder remain unclear, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that officers had been deployed to the scene. He assured the public that further updates would be provided as investigations unfold.

This tragic incident marks the second time a sitting Anambra lawmaker has been kidnapped and murdered in recent years. In 2022, Okey Okoye, popularly known as “Okey Di Ok” from Aguata, was abducted and beheaded, with his body later found near Nnobi.

The killing of Justice Azuka has reignited concerns over insecurity in Anambra and the broader South-East region, with calls for stronger measures to protect public officials and residents alike.
