Veteran Nollywood actor Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, is marking his 70th birthday today, and fans across social media are celebrating the legendary entertainer.
The beloved comic actor kicked off his special day with a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the milestone. “Chi Efogo and it is my 70th birthday. What else can I say? To God be all the glory. Special thanks to you all for being part of this journey. I love you all,” he wrote.
Several Nollywood stars joined in the celebration, flooding the comment section with well-wishes. Actor Ken Erics praised Owoh’s legacy, writing, “Happy Birthday Sir. Keep inspiring generations. God bless you.” Uche Elendu added, “Happy Birthday my John Bull… 70 looks amazing on you, uncle.” Other celebrities, including Frederick Leonard and Chidi Mokeme, also sent their regards.
Beyond Instagram, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to honor the veteran actor. Former Presidential spokesperson Segun Adeniyi recalled how the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua enjoyed Owoh’s films during flights on the presidential jet.

His stellar career has earned him multiple accolades, including the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008 for Stronger than Pain. In 2017, he received the AMAA Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to African cinema.
Born on February 7, 1955, in Udi, Enugu State, Owoh studied Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Despite his academic background, he built an illustrious career in Nollywood, cementing his place as one of Nigeria’s most beloved actors.
