Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his recent reported move to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), questioning his political consistency and leadership record.

Wike made the remarks on Wednesday during his monthly media briefing in Abuja, where he accused Obi of failing to stabilise the various political parties he has been associated with.

According to him, Obi’s repeated movement across political platforms reflects opportunism rather than credible leadership.

“Obi was in APGA. He couldn’t build APGA. What is good in leadership? Leadership is for you to stand up to challenges and see how you settle those crises,” Wike said.

“He left APGA. He came to the PDP. He ran away from the PDP. He went to Labour. Labour had a crisis. He couldn’t also use his leadership skills to put Labour together. He ran away again from Labour.”

Wike further alleged that Obi’s political journey shows a pattern of instability and convenience.

“He went to ADC. Now ADC has problems. He ran away from ADC again. All he is looking for is where food is ready; ‘Mama put’. Who will stabilise if you cannot stabilise?” he added.

The FCT Minister also referenced comments surrounding a recent Supreme Court ruling on the leadership crisis within the ADC, accusing Obi and his supporters of inconsistency in their reactions.

“When the Supreme Court judgement came out on ADC, Obi said the Supreme Court has saved this country,” Wike said.

“Yesterday, one Obidient said they have looked at it and that there’s a trap there. So after you have praised the Supreme Court, you now know there’s a trap?”
