In a heartbreaking turn of events, four renowned Nigerian gospel ministers lost their lives in a fatal road accident on Saturday, April 5, 2025, along the Ikorodu–Sagamu Road in Ogun State.
The deceased have been identified as Evangelist Ayodeji David, famously known as Kekere Jesu, Evangelist Iyanu Joseph, Monjolajesu Oluwapamilerin, and Opeyemi Adesina. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident in a statement released by Ogun State Commander and Public Information Officer, Florence Okupe, on Monday.
According to the FRSC, the accident involved multiple vehicles and resulted in the death of over 24 individuals. Investigations suggest overspeeding and poor visibility as contributing factors to the catastrophic collision. All four gospel ministers reportedly died on the spot.
Evangelist Ayodeji David, popularly known as Kekere Jesu, was widely celebrated for his powerful street evangelism and digital outreach. Sources indicate he and his companions were en route to a ministry engagement when the tragedy occurred.
Social media has since been flooded with heartfelt tributes from followers, ministry partners, and church members, mourning the loss of the revered ministers.
One mourner, Kenny John, shared an emotional post:
“The accident that occurred on Saturday claimed the lives of 22 people. Four of them were personally known to me: Prophet Ayodeji, also known as Kekere Jesu; Evangelist Iyanu Joseph; Prophet Ayodeji’s fiancée; and the wife of Prophet Ayodeji’s elder brother. It still feels like a dream. May their souls rest in perfect peace.”
Messages of comfort, drawn from scripture, have been shared in abundance.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes… There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” — Revelation 21:4.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4.
As investigations continue, the nation mourns the loss of these servants of faith, whose legacies will live on in the lives they touched through word and worship.
