Rep Members Urge Nigerians To Be Patriotic And Avoid War

Some members of the House of Representatives have stressed the need for Nigerians to be patriotic and avoid any act that can truncate the unity of the Country.

They gave the indication at a forum in Abuja.

One of them, member representing OGOJA/YALA Federal Constituency Mr. Godwin Offiono encourage Nigerians to keep on preaching peace regardless the present situation of the Country.

Another House of Representatives member Mr. Muktar Shagaya from the Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Kwara State, said there was the need for Nigerians to foster mutual understanding and harmonious relationships.

The Convener of the Programme, Dr. Rapheal Oko said he was worried about the increasing insecurity and violence in some parts of the Country which prompted his decision to introduce a special programme called “Voices of Peace and Unity” on the Network Service of Radio Nigeria.

Dr. Oko pointed out that he was once a kidnap victim and that “Voices of Peace and Unity would serve as a platform to encourage the restoration of peaceful coexistence in all parts of the Country.
