The founder of the Sphere of Light Church, Pastor Femi Lazarus, has cautioned Nigerians to be wary of what he described as the United States’ sudden interest in Nigeria’s internal affairs, alleging that such gestures may not be genuine.
Speaking during a recent sermon, Pastor Lazarus claimed that the U.S. concern over reports of Christians being killed in Nigeria is part of a deliberate strategy to create division and destabilize the country.
“When Goodluck Jonathan was in power, Nigeria needed to purchase certain weapons to fight insurgency, but it was America that blocked those efforts,” he stated.
The cleric suggested that the renewed attention from the U.S. was a tactical move to divide Nigeriaand later intervene for its own benefit.
“They are showing interest because they know it will divide the country. Once they come in, anywhere they step burns,” Lazarus warned.
He further noted that countries blessed with rich mineral resources often become targets of foreign interference and exploitation.
“The only country richer than Nigeria in terms of mineral resources is Venezuela. Anywhere there is wealth, there is conflict. We must be careful—they may appear to help, but their aim is to gain control,” he added.
Pastor Lazarus urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and united, stressing that the nation’s stability must not be compromised under the guise of foreign assistance.
