[5/10, 9:57 AM] rosewendy: The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2026 is currently underway at Eko Hotel and Suites, with top filmmakers, actors and digital creators across Africa receiving honours for excellence in film, television and digital storytelling.
The glamorous award ceremony, broadcast live across Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, celebrates outstanding achievements in African entertainment and continues to spotlight the continent’s growing creative industry.
One of the biggest winners of the night is My Father’s Shadow, which clinched multiple major awards including Best Movie, Best Director, Best Writing (Movie) and Best Sound Design.
Filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr won the Best Director category for My Father’s Shadow, while Wale Davies secured the award for Best Writing – Movie.
In the acting categories, Uzor Arukwe emerged as Best Lead Actor for his role in Colours of Fire, while Linda Ejiofor won Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift.
Ejiofor also picked up the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in The Herd, making her one of the standout stars of the evening.
Bucci Franklin won Best Supporting Actor for his role in To Kill a Monkey, while Uche Montana received the prestigious Trailblazer Award.
Veteran actors Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to the African film industry.
Other notable winners include Lisabi: A Legend Is Born, which won Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa), and Nigerian Idol, which secured the Best Unscripted Series category.
The Best Scripted Series category went to Inimba, while The Low Priest won Best Scripted M-Net Original.
