The Senate on Thursday continued its screening The Senate on Thursday continued its screening of President Bola Tinubu’s 65 ambassadorial nominees, with former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode drawing significant attention as he appeared before the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Fani-Kayode, a key figure in the Tinubu–Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, told journalists after his session that he had no indication of which country he may be posted to but is ready for any assignment.

The former minister, who worked alongside Festus Keyamo, Dele Alake and Idris Mohammed as campaign spokespersons in the lead-up to the 2023 elections, emerged from Senate Room 301 around 2:15 p.m., dressed in a green babanriga and gold chain, appearing confident about the outcome of his screening.

Describing the process as open and stress-free, he said, “Oh, the screening went well. We are not under any form of pressure. The exercise was conducted in a relaxed atmosphere.”

When asked if he had a preferred posting, he replied adding, “I really don’t know. It is up to Mr President to decide that.”

Fani-Kayode is among several non-career nominees forwarded by President Tinubu. Others include former presidential aide and ex-senator Ita Enang (Akwa Ibom), retired Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Cross River), and former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau (Kano). Their specific foreign missions will be determined after presidential approval.
