Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has responded to rumours linking him romantically with actress and reality TV star Bamike Olawunmi adenibuyan popularly known as Bambam, following their appearance together in a film.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Igbo, Arukwe clarified that the project was the first time he had ever met the actress.
According to him, he was careful to maintain professionalism during filming and even sought her consent before performing scenes that required physical contact.
“Before I touched her, I asked if there was any way I could touch her that her husband wouldn’t like or that could cause problems at home,” he said.
Arukwe explained that the question was out of respect for Bambam’s marriage and to ensure that nothing done during filming would create issues in her personal life.
However, after the movie was released, speculation began circulating on social media suggesting that the two actors were romantically involved.
The actor dismissed the claims, saying the rumours falsely suggested that they were dating or had been intimate.
“That movie was the first time I had ever met her. But people started saying we slept together and were dating, which was completely false,” he added.
Arukwe stressed that their relationship was strictly professional and limited to their roles in the film, noting that the controversy gained attention online partly because Bambam is married.
