The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) English Language paper across selected schools in Abuja, following a monitoring exercise aimed at ensuring compliance with examination standards.
The exercise was carried out by the Education Resource Centre (ERC) of the FCT Education Secretariat and led by the Director of ERC, Dr Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, alongside the Director of Quality Assurance, Hajiya Titilayo Hajara Alayande.
Speaking during the monitoring visit, Dr Abdulrahim said the exercise was part of efforts to uphold examination integrity, ensure adherence to guidelines and provide candidates with a conducive environment for writing their examinations.
She said officials observed a high level of compliance in the schools visited, noting that candidates conducted themselves responsibly while examination officials carried out their duties professionally.
“The examination halls were orderly, invigilators were diligent, and candidates conducted themselves in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the examination,” she said.
Dr Abdulrahim added that the quality of facilities available to students reflected ongoing investments in the education sector by the FCT Administration, particularly through the renovation and upgrading of schools across the territory.
Also speaking, Hajiya Alayande said the absence of major irregularities during the examination demonstrated the commitment of schools and education stakeholders to maintaining examination ethics and standards.
She commended school administrators, teachers, supervisors and invigilators for their dedication and adherence to established examination guidelines.
According to her, quality assurance remains essential to sustaining public confidence in the education system and ensuring that examination standards are consistently maintained.

The monitoring team visited public and private schools, including Government Secondary School, Garki, and Olumawu School, Wuse II. Officials reported that examination materials arrived on time and candidates commenced the examination as scheduled.

The directors also urged students to remain focused and avoid all forms of examination malpractice.
School principals who interacted with the monitoring team praised the Education Resource Centre for its continuous quality assurance efforts, while students expressed confidence in their preparedness for the examination.
The FCTA said the monitoring exercise forms part of broader efforts to strengthen quality assurance mechanisms and safeguard the credibility of public examinations across the Federal Capital Territory.
