The Lagos State Government has hosted the 2025 Job Fair, attracting more than 5,000 young job seekers, graduates, and entrepreneurs, alongside over 300 organisations across sectors such as ICT, finance, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, media, and the creative industries.
In a statement on Friday, the government said the annual event was organised by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment as part of efforts to connect young Lagosians with career and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Speaking at the fair, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equipping Lagos youth with skills and opportunities to succeed in a competitive economy.
He noted that the theme of this year’s event, “Your Career, Your Way: Explore Endless Possibilities”, reflects the aspirations of young people to pursue careers and entrepreneurial ventures aligned with their strengths, while contributing to Lagos’ prosperity.
Sanwo-Olu stressed that under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Development Agenda, youth empowerment remains a core priority, with investments in vocational training, digital literacy, entrepreneurship support, and job creation initiatives.
Head of Service Olabode Agoro, represented by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, Toriola Abdulafeez, urged private sector stakeholders to collaborate with government in advancing sustainable wealth creation programmes.
Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, said the fair was not just an event but a lifeline, revealing that more than 200,000 jobs have been created in the past four years through various interventions, including graduate internships, vocational training centres, and the newly commissioned Leather Hub in Mushin.
He added that billions of naira have been disbursed through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund to support small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs, further boosting job creation.
The fair also featured panel sessions, with Boladele Dapo-Thomas, Chairman of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, as a speaker, moderated by Olubusola Abidakun, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment and Training.
Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support, while appreciating employers, development partners, and participants for sustaining the platform that continues to provide Lagos youth with access to decent work.
