Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is under investigation for alleged sexual assault, with Norwegian media reporting that police have obtained video evidence of the incident.
The alleged assault took place in 2018 at Skaugum Castle, the royal residence, during a basement party among friends. Norwegian TV presenter Linni Meister, 39, reportedly became aware of the alleged attack only after being informed by police. Law enforcement officials reportedly discovered three videos and over 10 photos of the incident on Borg Høiby’s laptop, leading to the ongoing investigation.
Following the media reports, Meister took to Snapchat to confirm the claims, stating:
“I woke up to my phone ringing non-stop from Norwegian and foreign press. I understand that many want to comment on what Se og Hør reported today, but I will not say more than that it is true. This must stop—we cannot have more victims.”
Borg Høiby, now 28, has not commented on the allegations. He is also under investigation for other sexual assault cases and drug-related offenses.
His lawyer, John Christian Elden, acknowledged the unusual circumstances of the case but stated that Borg Høiby has the right to remain silent.
As the stepson of Norway’s future king, Borg Høiby was just four years old when his mother, Mette-Marit, married Crown Prince Haakon. His half-sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, is the heir to the throne.
Norwegian authorities continue their investigation into the case.
