Popular Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, and other related offences.
The arrest followed a formal petition filed by Mr. Okunola Saheed, also known as Osupa, who accused Portable of engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, character assassination, and using abusive language.
According to a statement released by the police, detectives acted in accordance with due legal process. A valid arrest warrant was secured from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin, enabling officers to move in on the singer. Portable was apprehended on Saturday, April 13, 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, at approximately 7:25 PM.
Following his arrest, Portable was transported to Ilorin, where he gave a statement in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. He is currently in custody as preparations are underway to arraign him in court.
The Kwara State Police Command emphasized its commitment to justice, urging the public to refrain from spreading misinformation. Officials confirmed that more updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
