Spain booked their place in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating France 2-0 in Tuesday’s semi-final at Dallas Stadium, Arlington.

The Spaniards produced another composed display to end France’s title hopes and move within one victory of lifting the World Cup trophy.

Luis de la Fuente’s side took the lead in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal converted from the penalty spot after Lamine Yamal was fouled inside the area by Lucas Digne.

France struggled to recover from the setback as Spain controlled possession and limited Didier Deschamps’ side to few clear-cut opportunities despite the presence of captain Kylian Mbappé in attack.

Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute when Pedro Porro finished off a well-worked team move involving Dani Olmo, leaving France with a mountain to climb.

Les Bleus pushed for a way back into the contest, but Spain’s organised defence stood firm to secure a deserved victory and a place in the final.

The win extends Spain’s impressive run in the tournament, having eliminated Portugal in the Round of 16 and Belgium in the quarter-finals before overcoming France in the last four.

Spain will now face the winner of Wednesday’s semi-final between England and Argentina in Sunday’s World Cup final, while France will take on the loser in the third-place playoff.
