Tinubu Nominates Louis Idion, Ummusalma Rabiu as FCCPC Executive Commissioners

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated veteran journalist Louis Odion and social impact advocate, Ummusalma Isiyaku Rabiu as Executive Commissioners of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). The appointments are pending Senate confirmation in line with the FCCPC Act, 2018.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via an official statement on X.

If confirmed, Odion will serve as Executive Commissioner, Operations, while Rabiu will take up the role of Executive Commissioner, Corporate Services.

Odion, from Edo State, boasts a distinguished media career, having served as Senior Technical Assistant to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Media, and as Edo State’s Commissioner for Information. He holds two Master’s degrees — in Modern War Studies from the University of Buckingham, UK, and in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.

Rabiu, 35, from Kano State, is the founder of the Usir Foundation, a non-profit organisation championing education, skills development, and humanitarian initiatives for underprivileged communities. A committed grassroots politician, she is widely recognised for promoting youth and women’s participation in governance. She holds a degree in Business Administration.
