Medical drama series The Pitt leads the nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards with 25 nods, ahead of comedy series Hacks, which receives 24.
Horror-comedy series Widow’s Bay has already won eight awards, mainly in technical categories, ahead of Monday night’s main ceremony in Los Angeles.
The series has 19 nominations overall, while Pluribus follows with 18 and Beef has 16.
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards take place at the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, California. Actress Mariska Hargitay hosts the ceremony.
The Emmy Awards, presented annually by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, recognise outstanding achievements in television and streaming, including acting, writing, directing and production.
Drama nominees
The nominees for Outstanding Drama Series are The Diplomat, The Gilded Age, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Paradise, The Pitt, Pluribus, Slow Horses and Your Friends & Neighbors.
In the drama lead actor category, Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Mark Ruffalo (Task), Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) and Noah Wyle (The Pitt) are nominated.
The lead actress nominees are Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age), Chase Infiniti (The Testaments), Keri Russell (The Diplomat), Rhea Seehorn (Pluribus) and Zendaya (Euphoria).
Comedy nominees
The Outstanding Comedy Series nominees are Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking and Widow’s Bay.
The lead actor category features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Wonder Man), Steve Carell (Rooster), Matthew Rhys (Widow’s Bay), Jason Segel (Shrinking) and Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building).
For lead actress, Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Elle Fanning (Margo’s Got Money Troubles), Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback) and Jean Smart (Hacks) are nominated.
Limited or anthology series
The nominees for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series are All Her Fault, The Beast in Me, Beef, DTF St. Louis and Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.
Lead actor nominees include Riz Ahmed (Bait), Jason Bateman (Black Rabbit), Charlie Hunnam (Monster: The Ed Gein Story), Oscar Isaac (Beef) and Matthew Rhys (The Beast in Me).
The lead actress nominees are Claire Danes (The Beast in Me), Sally Field (Remarkably Bright Creatures), Carey Mulligan (Beef), Sarah Pidgeon (Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette) and Sarah Snook (All Her Fault).
The Pitt also earns several supporting acting nominations, including recognition for Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, Gerran Howell and Katherine LaNasa.
Other notable supporting nominees include Billy Crudup and Jack Lowden in drama; Colman Domingo, Harrison Ford, Michael Urie and Tyler James Williams in comedy; and David Harbour and Linda Cardellini in the limited or anthology series category.
The supporting acting awards for limited series were presented during the pre-ceremony events.
