Kukah Suspends Catholic Masses in Sokoto

Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, has suspended until further notice, all Masses in Sokoto metropolis, until the curfew is lifted.

Social Communications Director of the diocese, Reverend Christopher Omotosho, in a statement, said there were attempts to burn two Catholic Churches and Bishop Kukah’s house; alongside a protest, which did not succeed.

Omotosho, who said that although Kukah’s residence was not torched, he noted that, hoodlums attacked two parishes in the city.

According to him, a team of Mobile policeman promptly dispersed the hoodlums, before they could do further damage.

He stated also that, the hoodlums also attacked the Bakhita Centre located along Aliyu jodi Road and burnt down a bus within the premises.
