The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course for Prospective Corps Members deployed to Niger State following ongoing renovation work at the state’s orientation camp.
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the scheme explained that the postponement became necessary due to repair works currently taking place at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Paiko.
According to the statement, the camp suffered extensive damage from a recent windstorm, prompting the Niger State Government to commence renovation efforts aimed at restoring the facility to a safe and suitable condition for the orientation exercise.
The NYSC assured affected Prospective Corps Members that efforts are underway to secure an alternative venue for the programme. It added that a new date for the commencement of the orientation course, along with other necessary details, will be announced as soon as arrangements are finalized.
“This decision has become necessary due to the ongoing renovation of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Paiko, Niger State, being undertaken by the Niger State Government following the extensive damage caused by a recent windstorm,” the statement said.
The management expressed regret over any inconvenience the postponement may cause to prospective corps members and their families. It also appealed for patience and understanding, assuring stakeholders that updates would be communicated promptly.
The development affects only corps members posted to Niger State, while orientation activities in other states are expected to proceed as scheduled.
