Grammy Award-winning Nigerian superstar Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, will headline the grand finale of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 Fan Zone Concert in Rabat, Morocco.
The announcement was confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).
“Burna Boy, Stormzy, Stonebwoy, and Jaylann live. The #TotalEnergiesAFCON2025 Fan Zone Concerts finale,” CAF wrote.
The football body also released official posters featuring the artistes scheduled to perform at the highly anticipated event.
Branded “The AFCON Last Dance,” the concert will take place at the OLM Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat, bringing the tournament’s entertainment activities to a memorable close.
Music has continued to play a central role in AFCON events, with top African and international stars performing at major tournament moments.
Last year’s opening ceremony in Rabat featured Nigerian Afrobeats icon Davido alongside French Montana and RedOne. Their performance, titled Le Show, took place ahead of Morocco’s opening match against Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
“The Nigerian Afrobeats star has helped carry African music onto the world’s biggest stages, with a sound associated with celebration, confidence, and continental pride — qualities CAF believes mirror the spirit of the Africa Cup of Nations,” CAF said of Davido.
The finale concert comes just days after Morocco eliminated Nigeria from the tournament. The Atlas Lions defeated the Super Eagles 4–2 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes in their semi-final clash in Rabat.
Although goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali saved one spot-kick, misses from Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi proved costly, with Youssef En-Nesyri scoring the winning penalty.
Nigeria will now face Egypt in the third-place match on Saturday, January 17, at the Mohammed V Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.
Meanwhile, Morocco will battle Senegal in the final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Saturday, starting at 2:00 p.m. ET, as the hosts chase their first AFCON title since 1976.
Beyond football, Nigerian artistes continue to dominate major global entertainment platforms. Stars such as Wizkid, Rema, Tiwa Savage, CKay, and Patoranking have performed at high-profile international events.
Wizkid made history as the first African artiste to headline the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, performing to about 45,000 fans. He also became the first African musician to headline the Glastonbury Festival.
Tiwa Savage was the only Nigerian artiste invited to perform at the coronation concert of King Charles III. Sharing photos from the event, she wrote, “Too many to choose from. This is one I’ll never forget.”
Rema also achieved a milestone when he performed his global hit “Calm Down” at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in France, becoming the first Nigerian artiste to perform at the prestigious football awards event.
With Burna Boy now set to headline the AFCON Fan Zone finale, Nigeria’s influence on global music and sports entertainment continues to grow.
