Canadian rapper Drake has released a massive new music project comprising three albums and 43 tracks, marking his most expansive release yet following months of relative silence after his high-profile feud with Kendrick Lamar.
The rapper unveiled the album Iceman alongside two surprise companion projects, Habibti and Maid of Honour, delivering nearly two and a half hours of music in what critics describe as an ambitious comeback effort.
Drake had previously teased the release of Iceman, but fans were caught off guard when the additional albums appeared simultaneously on streaming platforms.
The project also features collaborations with several major artists, including Future, 21 Savage and Sexyy Red.
The release comes after Drake kept a lower public profile following his widely publicised lyrical battle with Lamar, which culminated in the success of Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us. The song became one of the biggest rap records of last year and was later performed during the Super Bowl halftime show to a television audience of millions.
Despite the time that has passed since the feud, Drake appears unwilling to move on entirely.
On the track Make Them Remember, the rapper takes aim at Lamar once again, mocking the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist’s height — a recurring theme throughout their rivalry.
However, Lamar is not the only celebrity mentioned in the lyrics.
According to several early reviews, Drake also directs criticism at fellow rap stars Jay-Z, J. Cole, Pusha T and A$AP Rocky, as well as NBA icon LeBron James.
Music analysts say the sprawling triple-project release signals Drake’s attempt to reassert his dominance in hip-hop after one of the most turbulent periods of his career.
