Nollywood actress Judy Austin has criticised what she described as a growing culture of chasing money and online traffic at the expense of family values on social media.

In a series of posts shared on her Instagram stories on Friday evening, the actress lamented that some people now celebrate and even pray for the collapse of families simply to generate attention and profit from online drama.

Without naming anyone directly, Judy Austin said society had become increasingly driven by clout and financial gain, with little regard for the emotional damage caused to families involved in public controversies.

She wrote that it was “sad” to see people thrive on conflict and misfortune, adding that family unity and genuine human compassion appeared to be losing value in today’s digital culture.

The actress also warned against using personal crises as entertainment, saying the trend reflected a worrying shift in societal priorities.

Her comments have since sparked reactions online, with supporters agreeing that social media platforms often reward sensationalism, while critics argued that public figures also contribute to the culture through their own online activities.
